Nick MacGregor is a composer, musician, songwriter, and record producer from Arizona, U.S.A. A natural-born creator, he began his musical journey with the drums at just four years old. By ten, he was making beats and writing songs on GarageBand on the family computer. His early years were filled with piano and drum lessons.
Rooted in jazz, soul, R&B, and gospel/CCM, Nick MacGregor is known for his prolific drumming abilities, rich compositions, and cinematic arrangements. He began his formal training at Arizona State University at 17 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Jazz Studies, as well as a Certificate in Music Business. He studied under legends like Lewis Nash, Dom Moio, Corcoran Holt, Michael Kocour, Dr. Jeff Libman, Clarke Rigsby and many, many more—all before turning 25.
From 2023 to 2024, MacGregor independently wrote and produced several full-length instrumental albums, including Adventure Music (2023) and the ongoing Light Source series (2024). In just two months, he released three volumes of Light Source, an abstract instrumental project born from the urge to “get things off his chest.” The instrumental saga Light Source I–IV is available now, with more on the way.
Though he's accomplished much already, MacGregor is just getting started. He continues to write, produce, and perform. Crafting music that blends past, present, and future into something uniquely his own.
He is currently working on his next recording(s).
